Force Plate

The purpose of the force plate is used to measure the normal force acting upon the ball. Instead of building a force plate from scratch a digital scale was purchased. A Premium Electronic Digital Scale by Senter was chosen for its affordability and 0.2 gram sensitivity. The digital scale was deconstructed so all the wired connections and its loading cell were visible. It was then analyzed and tested to determine the relationship between voltage output and the force it was reading. The relationship was found to be linear starting with a negative voltage that increased with the weight being applied to the scale. These findings were determined to be acceptable to implement into the design. The modified scale now needs to be integrated into the structure and also fed into the data acquisition system
