Structure

The designed dimensions of our structure are 15”x17”x18”

Different materials are used for different sections, as there are different force requirements on each part. Most of it is made from aluminum, but some pieces are made from wood or steel depending on the requirements of that particular part. The goal is to keep the weight down as much as possible where possible without losing any structural stability.

The sliding mechanisms are placed with respect to each other so that they can both accommodate any sized ball (between a tennis ball and basketball), and the structure was designed with all of the other components (optical sensors, force plate, etc.) in consideration.
